Sherlock Arboricultural Consultancy was set up alongside Andy's role as a local authority Arboricultural Manager in a planning department.

Andy has extensive experience working for many local authorities at all levels, dealing with tree preservation order applications, conservation area notifications and planning consultations including major planning applications. His background also includes representing local authorities and private clients with written representation appeals and hearings, as well as at public inquiries.
​
Andy has acted for local authorities and other regulatory bodies such as Trading Standards and the Police. In these roles, he provided expert reports, witness statements, and attended court where he was cross examined on many occasions.
​
Qualifications include the National Certificate in Arboriculture, the Arboricultural Association Technician's Certificate, and the Royal Forestry Society’s Professional Diploma in Arboriculture. Andy is a Fellow of the Arboricultural Association, a Chartered Forester and a Chartered Environmentalist and has a huge breadth of experience in arboriculture He has presented CPD events and workshops in Vancouver and Toronto, as well as all over the UK.
